Carolyn
B. Thompson is the President of
TRAINING
SYSTEMS, INC., responsible for marketing, new client development, and
helping organizations of all sizes determine ways they can best
recruit, inspire, train and retain quality employees, and improve
performance. Carolyn is an experienced facilitator and consultant
knowledgeable in the challenging area of employee recruitment,
inspiration and retention as well as disability awareness. Her
specialties include: innovative recruitment planning, interviewing and
selection, implementing Human Resource Information Systems, designing
new employee orientation programs, training design & facilitation,
inspiring employees to excellence, developing self-directed teams, performance appraisal
systems, work & faith,
managing conflict, "positivity", creativity, working
smart, stress management, leadership and effective communication.
Carolyn's training facilitation
and design styles are highly interactive and include many hands-on
methods and materials designed for adult learning that
goes beyond the training session. She has facilitated training
throughout the country for trade/professional associations, small,
medium, and large companies, both for profit and non-profit and
university graduate and continuing education programs. Over the past
twenty years she has helped thousands of people learn—from students to
entry level staff to managers at all levels.
In addition to training and
consulting, she's written articles on employee recruitment,
inspiration & retention, interactive design, and dynamic
facilitation skills for Association Management, Family Business,
Successful Meetings, Christian Management, and many others. She authored a chapter on
customers with disabilities in the book, Americans With
Disabilities Act: Access and Accommodations, has been the
subject of articles in US News & World Report, The Chicago
Tribune, Daily Southtown, Star, Herald News,
Working Woman, Redbook, Business Week, Home Office Computing,
and has been quoted in Inc. magazine and the book by
Connie Glaser and Barbara Smalley, Swim With The Dolphins: How
Women Can Succeed in Corporate America on Their Own Terms.
Carolyn has produced a two-tape
audio tape set based on her radio show, Straight Talk for
Employers; the worksheet, Ten Steps to Determining the
Return on Your Training Investment; written the books, The
Leadership Genius of George W Bush and Interviewing
Techniques for Managers & published the book, Creating Highly Interactive Training Quickly &
Effectively. She’s currently writing Managing Employees Using The BIBLE As Your
Guide (a how-to manual based on Biblical principles of every
imaginable people management task).
An experienced manager, Carolyn
held the position of Director, Personnel Resources for the Chicago
JVS. There she helped managers in hiring, training, and inspiring staff
to provide the quality services necessary to meet the needs of the
community. Prior to JVS, she was the Director of Job Placement
Services with CARC where she and 20 staff assisted companies hire,
train, and manage employees with disabilities. Carolyn also has held
numerous leadership positions in the National Rehabilitation
Association, National Association of Service Providers in Private
Rehabilitation, and is a member of many associations including: the
Society for Human Resource Management; the American Society of
Association Executives; the International Association for Performance
Improvement; she is on the board of the Three Rivers Education
Partnership; she is a member of Rotary, the Christian Management
Association and local Chambers of Commerce. Carolyn is active
at Grace Episcopal Church. |
