Companies Hiring Managers Again (November 2002) |
|
Managers are coming back in vogue. After months of
layoffs, many companies are hiring more managers and investing in
leadership training, despite the down economy. (The Employment Policy
Foundation estimates 23 million net new jobs will be created during the
next 10 years; 7 will be management.)
Once hired, these managers are improving their leadership and managerial skills through beefing up company sponsored training. Why? Companies want to be poised to grow as the economy rebounds. "Companies now getting rid of managers probably won't participate in the next growth spurt." (Ron Swift, vice president at Teradata, Dayton OH) Excerpted from USAToday.com, 10/25/02 |
